About The Bravo Report

A Podcast by Sandra Cano-Bravo

I am a Local Activist, Independent Journalist, Blogger & host of the popular podcast - The Bravo Report.

I live smack in the middle of the epicenter of the “Show Me Your Papers” beautiful cactus state of Arizona, bedrock of some of the most egregious anti-immigration sentiments & legislation (SB 1070 & HB 2162) in the country.  Prior to these bills, I started my activism volunteering for the United Farm Workers Union led by the legendary Cesar Chavez.

It was here when I was re-introduced to my true passion of radio broadcasting.  I became a popular DJ at Radio Campesina in El Mirage, Arizona with one of the highest rating’s radio show reaching thousands of listeners in the Phoenix metro area including the outskirts of Tucson.

The Bravo Report addresses all issues affecting our Latinx & minority communities.  Topics from social, educational, economical & judicial inequalities & injustices that shall & must be addressed!

All these important social issues have been so in the forefront as of lately & in jeopardy of being buried under the cover of cynicism, prejudice & the original sin of racism.   We cannot have equality for ALL our people in any of these realms, if we do not face & accept the existence of systematic inequities embedded for years in the fabric of this great nation. We must have equal representation in our government elected officials as this grand experiment of self-governance requires it.

Turning Arizona blue in the last 2020 presidential & senatorial races did not happen overnight.  It has been years in the making of marching, protesting, registering voters & a true strenuous effort to take advantage of an ever-changing demographics, not just in Arizona, but all across the nation. The Bravo Report tackles these important issues affecting our minority communities at the local & national level.

Today, one of the most crucial issues we must address is the dangerous voter suppression laws being enacted all over the country by GOP state legislators.  These laws are an attempt to silence a soon-to-be majority electorate via their VOTE, detrimental in a government by & for the people, genesis of a truly democratic Republic.  We must face this dangerous precedent attempting to return us to the Jim Crow era of “Whites Only” signs at water fountains, counter diners & all public forums.

We are committed to eradicating these racist agendas so vivid in our minds still today.  The depictions of African & Latinx Americans denied their right to vote are still images carved in the stripes of our memory, depictions we shall never forget, for we cannot return to these dark days of injustices.  We will speak & stand up wherever & whenever we witness injustice.  As the great Martin Luther King, Jr., declared “Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Join us in this national palpable effort & platform to put out the sting of racism, bigotry, misogyny all leading to injustices affecting our communities of color.  We will work tirelessly for a more even playing field for all Americans of every stripe, color or creed.  We must & shall fulfill the promise of that “Shiny City on a Hill” which is America to ALL our people regardless of race, gender, creed, religion & political affiliation.  We can only be a free society when we are blind to skin color & love our fellow countrywomen & countrymen for their character, not their skin color.  We must live up to the promise of a true melting pot and land of immigrants for We the People will be better for it.

Yes We Can! Si Se Puede!
